Job Title : Respiratory Therapist II Job Specialty : Therapeutic Treatment Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Night, 6 : 30pm-7 : 00am Guaranteed Hours : Not specified Experience : 0-2 years clinical experience with minimum 6 months in critical care License : Registered Respiratory Therapist, Respiratory Care Professional Certifications : - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)Must-Have : - Ability to communicate well - Critical thinking skills - Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals - Computer skills including familiarity with databases - Good customer relation, assessment, and communication skills Job Description : - Responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate-and-treat process - Deliver patient care in complex, multiple problem-patient care situations - Majority of time in critical care areas with protocol ventilator management, significant independent decision-making, and self-direction - Responsible for patient, family / support system education, coordination of activities, staff development, and professional and self-development activities - Address biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and patient / family education needs when providing care - Participate in the education of new employees and others Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions : - Provide customer service by completing patient care, documentation, and education - Promote a team spirit and positive work environment - Provide supportive environment for students and staff Administer Quality Patient Care : - Perform patient assessment & assessment for therapy - Collaborate with healthcare team members in planning patient care - Verify orders and administer aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen & medical gas therapy - Perform ventilator management, weaning, waveform graphic interpretation;
airway management (intubation, extubation, tracheostomy tube change and care) - Perform arterial blood gas sampling & analysis - Educate patients and mentor / precept new employees, students, and peers - Assist in invasive and non-invasive procedures, cardiac service procedures, and pulmonary diagnostic testing Provide Safe & Quality Environment : - Promote current and accurate electronic orders, charting, and charging - Promote high level of patient safety - Promote performance improvement initiatives to enhance quality care - Promote evidence-based practice - Review revised and new departmental policies and procedures Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
