SMP sells its products primarily to automotive aftermarket retailers, program distribution groups, warehouse distributors, original equipment manufacturers, and original equipment service part operations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Mexico, and other Latin American countries.

Position : Strategic Sourcing Analyst

Location : Any USA SMP Location

Job Level : Salaried Exempt

Compensation : $60,000-$100,000 Depending on experience and location

Overall Scope :

The Strategic Sourcing Analyst will be responsible for improving the margin of ES Products through Material Costs Improvements taking into consideration cost, delivery and quality of Suppliers.

Responsibilities :

  • Implement sourcing strategies including; writing and negotiating contracts and supplier agreements on materials, equipment, tooling, supplies, logistics and / or services.
  • Recommend strategic sourcing decisions based on developing, maintaining, and analyzing current trends and future outlooks for our key material commodities, markets, industries and regulations to ensure reliability of sourcing at the best total value.
  • Perform cost analysis and evaluate cost reduction opportunities within the Engineered Solutions portfolio in and liaison with ES Commercial Team and Customers.
  • Lead or coordinate cost reduction projects with cross functional Teams.
  • Support sourcing activities on new ES Engineering Product Development.
  • Works closely with Engineering and Manufacturing to facilitate Value Analysis / Value Engineering discussion about cost improvements.
  • Works closely with Purchasing to facilitate discussion or engage directly with suppliers in price negotiation or contract management.
  • Coordinate and conduct Supply Chain Assessment for evaluating existing and potential suppliers.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor action plans as necessary to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Measure, monitor and report on Key Supply management performance metrics.
  • Assist in preparing key executive summary analytics for Executive Management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business / Engineering / Finance / Supply Chain / Accounting
  • Minimum of 3-year experience in Purchasing / Procurement.
  • Strong analytical skills required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS office
  • Must be able to work with team members and work with minimal supervision
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time to visit NA or European vendors.

Preferences :

Experience in a Commercial Vehicle, Light Vehicle, Construction / Agriculture, Powersport Manufacturing Environment. Experiences in project management / coordination is a plus.
