Overview
The Safety manager will be an integral part of the Intermodal Mexico USA team in helping keeping employees safe and the operation out-performing the competition.
The Safety Manager will design, implement and over-see the company’s safety, and workers compensation programs.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Design and implement full-scale safety, drug and alcohol, and workers compensation programs.
- Interact with external agencies such as OSHA and FWCJUA.
- Administer worker’s compensation program and implement programs to create cost savings.
- Implement and conduct site safety and job specific training.
- Assist Terminal Managers and Supervisors with qualification testing.
- Schedule post-accident follow-up measures such as investigations, drug tests, re-enactments, etc.
- Compile and submit all compliance and regulatory reporting and posting(s) timely and accurately.
- Maintain files for all departmental programs in accordance with all laws, regulations and best practices.
- Other collateral duties assigned by the Leadership.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
- High School Diploma or GED, required
- Minimum of 5 years working in safety functions, required
- 1 year of experience managing safety department(s) and / or functions, preferred
- 1 year of experience in Intermodal Operations or Safety
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Bilingual preferred (Spanish)
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as data associated with overhaul, periodic maintenance and supplier contracts.
Ability to evaluate technical information associated with Component parts engineering reports and analysis.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have moderate degree of computer skills in Windows operating systems; internet communications; and proficiently use Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel programs.
Must also have ability to learn and utilize skills necessary to optimize AS 400 modules and resources as well as other applicable software programs.

Must have Florida driver's license
