SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER II
The role, at a glance :
The Supplier Quality Engineer II drives continuous improvement and compliance with suppliers, designs and evaluates processes to eliminate recurrence of nonconforming materials and quality-related obstacles, and leads complex projects across operational functions.
How you'll contribute :
- Participate in supplier pre-ship reviews, quality audits source inspections and hardware acceptance, corrective actions, and foster continuous improvement with suppliers
- Support part qualification and develop test plans to minimize risks when approving new suppliers, changes to existing parts, and new parts
- Champion nonconforming materials investigation and review. Contain, mitigate and resolve issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of materials and products
- Collaborate with Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to assess risk, develop and implement methods for control, and ensure specification conformance in an efficient manner
- Support New Product Implementation and Change Management
- Participate in the evaluation of materials or processes, including risk analysis, to establish adequate controls to ensure the incoming material and services supplied are of the highest levels of quality and reliability
- Support resolution of identified discrepancies from First Article Inspections, Engineering Change Orders and associated specifications for potential risks or changes to quality requirements
- Champion the Corrective Action process, including thorough effectiveness verifications and documentation for quality records
- Analyze production and service limitations and standards to recommend initiatives for improvement
- Lead moderately complex continuous improvement projects, driving for demonstrable and sustainable results
You'll also support by :
- Collaborating with Engineering on production, inspection and test guidelines and recommend any new technologies, materials and capabilities necessary to meet new product demands
- Performing other duties and assignments as directed to support the broad function and overall business goals and objectives
A successful candidate should have :
- Four (4) year BS degree in Engineering (preferably Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical), Acoustics, Physics or related field, with minimum of three (3) years' experience in a manufacturing environment
- Preferred manufacturing experience in Quality with application of statistical process control (SPC and Pareto analysis), risk management (FMEA / FMECA, Control Plan), design of experiments (DOE) and various quality system methodologies (ISO 9001, first article inspections, R&R studies, lean, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Experience with ISO 9001, UL, CQC or similar certifications a plus
- Strong project management and leadership skills, with demonstrable experience improving quality results in a manufacturing environment
- Self-starter with the ability to quickly learn new processes with little guidance
- Willingness to think outside of the box and adapt best practices to the growing environment
- Specific Job Skills : Able to read and interpret engineering definition and specifications. Should have excellent PC skills, proficient in Microsoft Office with strong analytical, critical thinking skills and a proven ability to apply creative and innovate solutions to problems
- Behavior / Work Management Skills : Ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities and shifting time requirements.
Must be able to promote a participative, team-oriented environment, working with customers (both internal and external), all employees, Suppliers and others in a professional and respectful manner
- Communication Skills : Excellent communication skills and be able to communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing
- Language Skills : Ability to read, analyze and write reports, business correspondence, work instructions and procedure manuals in English.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, employees and vendors
Reasoning Ability : Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to compile and present data in a format that facilitates information sharing and decision making
Work Environment :
- This is an onsite position based in Tigard, OR.
- Office and manufacturing environment
- Must be able to identify and distinguish color and lift up to 50 pounds may with assistance
- Some travel should be expected, occasionally one to two weeks a month, to suppliers (US and Internationally), other Biamp sites, locations and / or special training programs
