The second focus area is aimed at investigating molecular mechanisms of biomolecules using a combination of molecular and cellular approaches.

The Department is highly motivated to recruit individuals with a primary expertise in cellular signaling as it relates to human health.

It is anticipated that these individuals will synergize with current faculty in areas including but not limited to viral / bacterial pathogenesis, regenerative medicine, neuroscience, inflammation, structural biology, and protein folding disorders.

The recruit will join an existing core of molecular and cellular biologists with expertise in mentoring junior faculty and will be expected to secure extramural funds and maintain a vibrant and innovative research program using modern cutting-edge approaches.

Salary and rank are commensurate with experience.

Essential Functions

  • Conducting research and publishing research results in the areas of biochemistry, microbiology or immunology.
  • Supervision of graduate students and postdocs in research.
  • Teaching of biochemistry, microbiology, or immunology to graduate students, undergraduate students, and medical students in a classroom setting.
  • Will initially be expected to serve on departmental and College committees with the expectation that as their research program matures they will also serve on University and National committees, such as NIH study sections and journal editorial boards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • At least two years of relevant research experience as a postdoctoral fellow.
