Position Description

As a Full Stack Engineer specializing in generative AI applications, you will design, develop, and deploy innovative web applications that leverage state-of-the-art generative AI models.

This role requires hands-on expertise in both front-end and back-end development using modern technologies. You will create responsive and interactive interfaces with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3, while also contributing to a robust backend architecture with Python and FastAPI.

Full Stack Development and Architecture

  • Contribute to architecture and prioritization for the front-end track.
  • Develop robust and user-friendly interfaces using React, Next.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Implement scalable, low-latency backend services using Python, FastAPI, and Pydantic to support frontend functionalities.
  • Integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic to ensure high availability and data protection measures.
  • Collaborate with the contract Full Stack Engineering (FSE) team to ensure seamless integration and functionality.

Project and Performance Management

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to architect, develop, and maintain end-to-end solutions.
  • Monitor, debug, track, and resolve production issues.
  • Assist in ensuring that projects proceed on time and on budget.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to track performance KPIs and prioritize improvements based on effort and impact.
  • Present prototypes and progress updates to stakeholders.

Research and General Responsibilities

  • Stay updated on the latest advances in AI / ML research to enhance the platform.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and subject matter experts to deliver high-quality, AI-powered experiences.
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and a passion for learning and adopting innovative technologies.
  • This role is responsible for other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

Minimum of five years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of five years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience in Full Stack development with expertise in React and Python.

Additional Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience developing and integrating AI into consumer-facing products (FE+BE).
  • Proficiency in React, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Experience with Python, FastAPI and Pydantic building scalable services and APIs.
  • Consistent focus on quality through observability, error handling, performance monitoring, unit testing, and end-to-end testing.
  • Prior involvement in developing secure web applications and familiarity with application vulnerabilities.
  • Understanding of the underlying fundamentals of LLMs.
  • Familiarity with CI / CD best practices (e.g., GitHub actions, CDK).

Additional Information

This is a hybrid position which we consider to be a combination of remote and onsite work at our Boston, MA based campus, with the expectation of 3 days per week on campus.

Qualified candidates living and working outside of a 100-mile radius from campus and in states where Harvard is registered to do business (CA, CT, GA, IL, MA, MD, NH, NJ, NY, RA, VA, VT, WA) will be considered for a fully remote option.
