Research Participant Recruitment Program Coordinator

Performs professional work of considerable difficulty in coordinating the recruitment efforts of the Research Participant Services Core (Participant Core).

Supervises and evaluates staff, tracks and reports productivity, and ensures that Core services reflect current best practices and meet the needs of investigators accessing the services.

SCHEDULE Mon-Fri 8a-5p; occassional nights and weekends.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

Coordinates all aspects of the Recruitment Program and ensures close collaboration with the Coordinator of the Clinical Measurement Program (CMP) and the Coordinator of the Research Community Engagement Program.

Oversees research participant recruitment efforts of the Participant Core, including efforts that support the goals of increasing representation of children with developmental language disorder, hearing loss, underrepresented groups, and other priority participant groups in the database.

Helps to secure audiologists, speech-language pathologists, or research assistants outside of the Participant Core to cover community screenings, as needed.

Works in collaboration with relevant research labs and centers to support the success of those efforts.

With input from the Participant Core Director, develops new and innovative recruiting strategies, including but not limited to social media, collaborations with other research centers, summer camp testing sessions, etc.

Works closely with PIs to understand and tailor recruitment efforts to their needs.

With input from the Participant Core Director and Research Marketing Manager, develops new and innovative science communication strategies for the recruitment efforts at BTNRH.

Provides input related to database upgrading and ensures the appropriate maintenance of the database and efficient extraction of data when requested by project leads and PIs.

Develops online procedures for assessing participant satisfaction; works with Administrative Core to assess PI satisfaction with recruitment services.

Implements evaluation effort as directed by the Participant Core director.

Directly supervises Recruitment Program staff, including regular oversight and ongoing monitoring of productivity and level of staffing needs.

Conducts annual performance appraisals of direct report staff. Determines level of staffing need and hires additional staff as appropriate in collaboration with the Participant Core Director.

Provides routine data to the Core Use Committee regarding Participant Core use. Serves on the Core Use Committee and works with the committee to review, approve, and address new or revised Participant Core use application that involve recruitment needs.

Prepares regular updates for the Administrative Core and annual updates for the External Advisory Committee and provides input for progress reports.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Ability to provide leadership, supervision, and training for the staff of the center.

Ability to prepare budget projections, based on multiple revenue sources.

Ability to interact effectively with staff members of the Participant Core and Center for Childhood Perception and Communication and investigators across the Boys Town National Research Hospital (BTNRH) hearing and language science programs.

Ability to establish and maintain an environment that encourages teamwork, interdependence, communication and ethical actions.

Ability to communicate concisely, both orally and in writing.

Ability to remain flexible in duties performed.

Ability to operate a personal computer and use Microsoft Office Software, including Microsoft Excel and Word; Ability to use REDCap to develop and manage selected data entry forms.

Outstanding oral and written communication skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Masters, PhD, or AuD in Audiology, or PhD or Masters in Science / Arts in Speech-Language Pathology, Evaluation Science, Psychology, Education, Public Health, or related field required.

Knowledge of procedural and IRB requirements that are specific to assessments in a research context required.

Minimum of five years of research or related experience required.

Means of transportation between BTNRH sites required.
