AKASA is the preeminent provider of generative AI solutions for the healthcare revenue cycle, from prior authorization to claim management.

As a Senior Data Scientist at AKASA, you will deploy your deep domain knowledge of healthcare data and your expertise in statistical methodologies to conduct rigorous research leveraging complex proprietary medical and clinical datasets.

You will deliver data assets that will be critical for communicating the impact of our products on key outcomes for health systems and will contribute to improving the results of our GenAI-based product offerings.

You will be positioned within the cross-functional Data Platform team and work in a deeply cross-functional and collaborative fashion across Engineering, Analytics, Machine Learning, Product, and Sales.

You will support the analysis and development of our market-leading GenAI products designed to help our customers manage mission-critical medical billing for millions of patients.

AKASA is based in South San Francisco. As a company, we embraced remote work before COVID-19. We consider ourselves experts in working collaboratively wherever our team members happen to reside within the US.

What You'll Do

  • Leverage causal inference and other statistical methodologies to assess the value and impact of our products on key outcomes for hospitals and providers using financial and other data sources.
  • Clearly communicate insights highlighting the impact of our product offering to a wide variety of stakeholders across the organization.
  • Own the development of sophisticated healthcare algorithms and data assets that will improve not only our ability to communicate value to health systems but also our product offerings themselves.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Ph.D. and 3+ years of experience or Master’s and 5-7 years of experience or Bachelor’s and 8+ years of experience in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Public Health, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years experience specifically in the healthcare domain, working with EHR data, clinical data, claims data, or similar.
  • Proficiency in advanced statistical analysis and research design.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Proficiency in SQL.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate cross-functionally with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Highly self-sufficient and self-starting in solving complex problems and conducting projects end-to-end.
  • A passion and excitement about healthcare’s unique challenges and opportunities.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience in causal inference and / or econometrics.
  • Experience working with Data Warehouses.
  • Background in software development fundamentals and experience delivering software-based products.

Compensation

Based on market data and other factors, the salary range for this position is $175,000-$205,000 + Equity. However, a salary higher or lower than this range may be appropriate for a candidate whose qualifications differ meaningfully from those listed in the job description.
