Expectations :
The Team Leader must be able to facilitate patient meal service to meet service standard. The person must be able to function independently with limited supervision from Food Service Supervisor and be a resource for the team.
The person must have therapeutic diet knowledge and be able to assist Registered Dietitian to provide effective nutrition care in patient meal service.
The person is responsible for patient nutrition care activities including but not limited to the following : assuring patient meal trays are accurate and according to patient selection / physician's orders, able to conduct pre-service check prior to meal service, assure all regulatory standards are followed, answering the phone and communicating messages to appropriate personnel, maintaining adequate menus and stationary supplies, participate in the training of new hires, assuring established service times are followed, participating in the department and hospital performance improvement activities, participating in team and / or department meetings, attending required / mandatory in-services, complying with hospital / department policies and procedures including all food safety regulatory standards, communicating appropriately and clearly with patients, peers, and nursing personnel, portraying positive and professional standards at all times, and performing other duties as assigned.
This position may require flexibility of hours
EDUCATION :
High School graduate or equivalent experience preferred.
EXPERIENCE / TRAINING :
Prefer prior food service training or ServSafe training, or minimum 1 year or more experience in Food Service.
SKILLS :
Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
Therapeutic Diet Meal Planning knowledge preferred.
