Chief Financial Officer
Location : Pontiac, Michigan
Salary 200K Plus Bonus
Onsite Position
No Relocation, Remote or Hybrid
The CFO will report directly to the CEO and will provide leadership, direction, and financial management to the Executive Team and has primary responsibility for the planning, implementation, managing and execution of all the finance activities of the company, including business planning, budgeting, forecasting and negotiations.
The CFO must be able to foster a dynamic, growth oriented, and collaborative environment through servant leadership and strong communication.
The CFO is also responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of the financial performance of the company. In addition, the CFO is responsible for all compliance activities associated with taxes, loans, licensing, audits as well as the management, oversight, review and development of all directed reports.

We are looking at this as an opportunity to create a long-term key player in our clients construction firm with a primary focus on the following areas :
- Ensure the accurate and timely closing of the monthly financials for all companies in accordance with the monthly accounting schedule.
- Ensure financial statements are issued accurately in accordance with GAAP.
- Review reconciliations prepared by accounting team on a monthly basis for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of resolution.
- Assist in the development of an annual budget for company.
- Prepare capital calls and debt draws in accordance with the company’s loan requirements.
- Accurately track the use of all capital as part of the monthly closing process by timely updating the relevant reporting schedules.
- Initiate wire transfers as necessary to manage obligations.
- Efficiently manage all required business license applications, renewals and governmental reporting requirements.
- Coordinate all company audits and manage the relationship with the independent auditors to ensure seamless delivery and a good working relationship with audit teams.
- Day to day management and supervision of the company finance / accounting team.
- Special projects as requested by the leadership team.
- Oversee fuel purchasing program. Provide insight and strategy to maximize purchasing effectiveness.
- Analysis and strategy in our asset purchasing program. This includes understanding the right time to buy and sell equipment.
- Manage all aspects of the corporate insurance program.
- Communicate issues to staff as it relates to cost variances that have a negative and positive effect on the business.
- Calculate and verify all employee incentive plans.
- Prepare and present monthly financial performance to the board of directors.
This position requires a strong working knowledge of US GAAP and the ability to effectively develop and manage an accounting team (both people and process).
Must have a strong knowledge of private company accounting, Microsoft Excel, and Great Plains software.
PROBLEM-SOLVING / KNOW HOW :
Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or CPA highly desirable. At least 10 years' experience in the finance industry and managing a team is a must.
As the CFO you must display a cohesive ability at interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written. As the CFO you must also be able to engage with staff at all levels of the organization and exercise sound judgement.
MANAGEMENT :
Must be affective in human resource management. Manages staff including supervision, counseling, mentoring, performance standards and review, discipline, training and employee development.
Maintains and improves employee morale. Responsible for maintaining expenditures and budgets to the extent authorized and may have the responsibility of inventory, capital investments, or head count controls.
