Job Description
Under the general direction of the Director of Student Financial Assistance, the Assistant Director is responsible for developing and recommending financial aid policies and procedures for SOM students.
The Assistant Director advises students regarding various aspects of financial aid, evaluates and verifies financial aid eligibility, ensures compliance to all State and Federal Financial Aid Regulations, completes SOM student aid reports, and provides students loan debt counseling.
The position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer. Salary Range $45,700-$59,400- Salary is commensurate with experience and internal equity Salary Type Salary Time Type Full-Time Work Location MUSOM - Marshall University School of Medicine Qualifications Must be able to perform all essential job duties as outlined in the job description.
Required Qualifications Education
Bachelor’s Degree
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in financial aid.
- Minimum of 5 years of customer experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and policies concerning provision of financial aid to students.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully streamline and improve processes.
- Cultural awareness, problem-solving and analytical abilities, decisiveness, and professional discretion is required.
- Ability to work as a team and independently as required.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing conditions.
- Ability to think creatively and apply innovative solutions to work environment and partner with other constituents to accomplish tasks.
- Proficient in working with student database systems; demonstrate ability to integrate technology into workflows to communicate clearly and track cases to resolution.
