OVERVIEW :

The Senior Director of Institutional Giving will secure annual financial resources at a national and regional level in support of the Year Up mission, ongoing operations and strategic initiatives.

Reporting to the Senior Director of National Foundation & Corporate Partnerships, the Senior Director of Institutional Giving is responsible for meeting an annual cash goal through engagement with high capacity foundations and corporate philanthropy.

This role is responsible for maximizing existing partnerships, sourcing new relationships that align with the organization’s strategic priorities, and managing a multi-million dollar portfolio of donors.

This individual is responsible for effective identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts for local, regional, and national institutional funders in the six-figure+ range to help fuel impact.

The Senior Director of Institutional Giving will at times interact with Year Up students as a coach, mentor, group facilitator, and advocate, participating in building a positive educational environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

Fundraising

  • Manages portfolio comprised of foundations and corporate philanthropy
  • Cultivates, solicits, and stewards existing and new institutional donors in the six- to eight-figure range
  • Assists in securing the organization’s annual cash goal
  • Collaborates with local Institutional Giving solicitors
  • Designs and executes large institutional fundraising opportunities in collaboration with the Senior Director of National Foundation & Corporate Partnerships, senior leaders, and key functional team leaders
  • Cultivates relationships with foundation program officers and key foundation leadership to successfully secure investments at significant level
  • Collaborates with Grants Management team to develop compelling proposals and ensure accurate financial and programmatic reporting
  • Represents Year Up by attending and participating in external meetings and events
  • Serves as regional thought partner regarding philanthropy and policy trends related to workforce development and disconnected young adults
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • 7+ years of professional foundations relations and / or individual donor experience, preferably in an entrepreneurial nonprofit environment
  • Proven track record prospecting, cultivating, closing and stewarding 6 and 7-figure+ institutional gifts
  • Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills in a dynamic organizational environment
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop, maintain and leverage relationships with external stakeholders
  • Proven passion for working with youth and an unshakable belief in their potential
  • Understanding the Opportunity Divide and its drivers
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion

Salary Range : $120,000 - $160,000

LI-Hybrid

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS :

Year Up has established salary ranges for each of our sites, which allows us to pay employees competitively, equitably and consistently in different geographic markets.

For roles in which the location is listed as flexible, the range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.

Salary offers take into account a candidate’s skills, experience, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your location during the hiring process.

Vacation : Earn three weeks paid vacation in first year of employment; four weeks after initial year.

Professional Development : Funds available to support staff in achieving career objectives ($2,500 per year)

This is an exempt role (paid on a salaried basis).
