Job Summary :
Starr Insurance Companies is seeking a dynamic and experienced Underwriting professional to lead the Commercial Casualty underwriting team in the Southeast.
This position is responsible for driving profitable growth, building and maintaining relationships with our internal and external stakeholders, talent management, and maintaining high-quality underwriting standards.
Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage a team of underwriters and support staff, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines and practices.
- Develop and implement strategic underwriting plans in line with the company's objectives, fostering profitable growth and risk mitigation.
- Analyze market trends, assess risks, and determine appropriate pricing and coverage terms for commercial casualty products, ensuring competitive and sustainable underwriting decisions.
- Foster strong relationships with key brokers, agents, and clients to drive business expansion and maintain a strong market presence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective risk management, seamless operations, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, offer feedback, and identify opportunities for team development and enhancement.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional designation (e.
g., CPCU, ARM) is advantageous.
- 7 years of experience in Casualty underwriting, with a proven track record of successful leadership and team management.
- Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment, pricing, and portfolio management within the commercial casualty insurance segment.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in underwriting software, data analysis, and Microsoft Office Suite.
