- Experience with academic support programs focused on student success.
- Experience assisting with programs, events, trips, and workshops for students.
- Effective writing and speaking skills.
- Experience with computer software (Microsoft suite) and database management platforms.

- Experience in planning educational and / or cultural trips.
- 1 year experience with academic support programs focused on student success.
- Bilingual (Spanish) speaking / writing.
Job Description
- This is a grant funded position. Continuation of this position is contingent upon grant funding.
- Reports to the Student Support Services Program Director (SSS) at Texas State University-San Marcos. The SSS Grant Specialist is a member of the SSS administrative team and promotes educational achievement retention, good standing, and graduation for program participants.
- Evening and weekend work will be required.
Job Duties
- Provide counseling / advising (e.g. academic, career, financial, personal) to students who meet program eligibility requirements.
- Determine student academic needs and develop individualized student success plans.
- Schedule monthly student meetings.
- Document student contact / progress.
- Assist with marketing, recruitment screening and selection activities.
- Advise the SSS Association / Peer Pals
- Assist with record keeping, program evaluation and ongoing program improvement
- Assist with trips and events for participants.
