Tennessee Family Solutions is looking to hire a Certified Nursing Aide.
Essential Functions :
- Follow work assignments, and / or work schedules in completing and performing assigned tasks.
- Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures and as instructed by the supervisor.
- Notify the facility when late or absent from work according to specified call-in procedures.
- Cooperate with other facility personnel to assure that nursing services can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the persons.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
- Participate in and receive the nursing report upon reporting for duty.
- Assist persons with daily dental and mouth care.
- Give back rubs as instructed.
- Assist persons with dressing / undressing as necessary.
- Assist persons with hair care functions (combing, brushing, shampooing, etc.).
- Assist persons with nail care (clipping, trimming, and cleaning the finger / toenails).
- Shave persons as needed or requested.
- Keep persons dry (change gown, clothing, linen, etc., when it becomes wet or soiled).
- Make beds.
- Position bedfast persons in the correct and comfortable position.
- Change bed linens. Keep linens tight to avoid wrinkles from forming under the person.
- Put extra covers on beds as requested.
- Assist a person with bowel and bladder functions.
- Maintain intake and output records as instructed.
- Check and report bowel movements and character of stools as instructed.
- Assist with bowel and bladder training program.
- Assist persons in preparing for an activity and social programs.
- Assist in transporting persons to / from appointments, activity, and social programs as necessary.
- Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting persons into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
- Answer person calls promptly.
- Assist persons to walk with or without self-help devices as instructed.
- Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
- Provide eye and ear care.
- Measure and record temperatures, pulse, and respiration as instructed.
- Weight and measure persons as instructed.
- Assist with the application of nonsterile warm / cold compresses.
- Assist with the care of a dying person.
- Provide post-mortem care as instructed.
- Check persons routinely to assure that their personal care needs are being met.
- Observe and report the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdowns to prevent bedsores.
- Provide daily personal care.
- Give alcohol sponge baths.
- Provide daily Range of Motion Exercises as requested.
- Turn bedfast persons at least every two hours.
- Observe disoriented and comatose persons. Record and report data as instructed.
- Watch for and report any change in room temperature, ventilation, lighting, etc.
- Prepare persons for meals (take to the bathroom, wash hands, comb hair, raise bed, take to / from dining room, etc.)
- Serve food trays. Assist with feeding as indicated.
- Assist persons with identifying food arrangements (informing persons with sight problems, what foods are on the tray, where it is located, if it is hot / cold, etc.).
- Record the persons’ food / fluid intake. Report changes in the person’s eating habits.
- Keep person water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water and within easy reach of the person.
- Serve between meal and bedtime snacks as directed.
- Perform after meal care (remove trays, clean person’s hands, face, clothing, take to the bathroom, brush teeth, clean dentures, etc.).
- Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational classes.
- Keep floors dry. Report spills immediately.
- Keep excess supplies and equipment off the floor. Store in designated areas.
- Keep a person's personal possession off the floor and properly stored.
- Follow established smoking regulations. Report all violations.
- Report all hazardous conditions and equipment to the Nurse House Manager or Supervisor immediately.
- Follow established safety precautions in the performance of all duties.
- Report all safety violations.
- Wash hands before and after performing any service for the person.
- Wash wheelchairs, walkers, etc., as instructed.
- Clean, disinfect, and return all personal care equipment to its designated storage area after each use.
- Perform routine housekeeping duties (clean bedrails, nightstand, etc., that relate to nursing care procedures).
- Wash hands before entering and leaving an isolation room / area.
- Report any communicable or infectious disease that you contact with the Director of Nursing or designee.
- Follow established isolation precautions and procedures.
- Use gowns and gloves as indicated.
- Operate all equipment in a safe manner.
- Report defective equipment to the Nurse House Manager or Supervisor.
- Inform the Nurse House Manager or Supervisor of your equipment and supply needs.
- Review care plans daily to ensure that you are providing appropriate nursing care.
- Inform the Nurse House Manager or Supervisor of any changes that need to be made on the care plan.
- Ensure that your notes reflect that the care plan is being followed.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all personal care information.
- Ensure that you treat all persons fairly and with kindness, dignity, and respect.
- Ensure that all nursing care is provided in privacy.
- Knock before entering the person’s room.
- Report all grievances and complaints made by the person to the Nurse House Manager or Supervisor.
- Report all accidents and incidents you observe on the shift that they occur.
- Report all changes in the person’s condition as soon as practical.
- When processing a new admission, ensure that the person’s room is ready, greet and escort persons to their room, and introduce persons to other persons and personnel as appropriate.
- Inventory and mark the person’s personal possessions.
- Assist persons with packing their personal possessions when they are being transferred to a new room or when being discharged.
- Assist persons with loading / unloading / packing / unpacking as necessary.
- Notify the Nurse House, Manager / Supervisor, immediately of any person leaving / missing from the home.
