Representative Duties :
- Responsible for management of all phases of the men’s track & field program which includes recruiting, training, practicing, competition, scheduling, game-day preparation, fundraising, travel and adhering to and enforcement of all policies and procedures of the CCCAA, PCAC and the SBCCD.
- Provide leadership and instruction in the academic, athletic and personal development of the student athlete.
- Promote the academic progress of the student athlete by working closely with the counseling staff.
- Work collaboratively with in selection, purchase, and maintenance of the team equipment and supplies.
- Support the sports medicine staff to ensure student athletes welfare.
- Provide daily direction to assistant coaches and promote and atmosphere of compliance.
- Assist athletes in academic and athletic preparation for transfer to four-year universities.
- Promote San Bernardino Valley College athletics in the community and develop and maintain a close working professional relationship with local high school coaches.
- Help resolve student-athlete issues including providing encouragement and support for student athletes.
- Assist with sports clinics, camps, tournaments, races and / or charity games.
- Coach practices and both traditional and non-traditional games.
- Attend and participate in some local coaches' meetings, staff and conference meetings, state coaches' meetings, and coaching clinics;
maintain membership and participate in meetings at the local and state coaches' associations.
- Provide the Sports Information Specialist the statistics for all tournaments and other off site contests as needed.
- Give input on the performance of each referee after each game for the referee evaluation as needed.
- Provide the necessary documentation for the reimbursement of out- of- pocket expenses.
- Maintain office hours and participate in department / division meetings.
Qualifications
Education :
Any bachelor's degree and two (2) years of professional experience OR any associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience.
A minimum of two years of experience coaching high school and / or college age v olleyball as part of a club or team.
Demonstrated sensitivity to, understanding of, and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, religious, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Experience :
Experience that indicates a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical and learning disabilities.
Desired Qualifications :
Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to compliance with NCAA, CCCAA, state and other applicable regulations; Demonstrated ability to improve athletes' skills using proven coaching strategies and techniques;
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, evaluate and adapt in a dynamic educational environment; Experience teaching Kinesiology activity courses at the collegiate level.
Strong commitment to professional development, maintaining positive relationships within the community and remaining current in the field;
Ability to work effectively and professionally with colleague, management, classified staff and others outside the college and excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Proof of American Red Cross, lifeguard certification or similarly recognized organization.
Employment Requirements
