Overview
Responsible for monitoring the healthcare environment for appropriate Infection Prevention practices. Collects, analyzes and reports data concerning hospital-acquired infections, isolation procedures and appropriate control measures.
Conducts education related to Infection Prevention. Conducts an ongoing assessment of infection prevention activities and assists with the revision of processes, procedures and policies, as necessitated by evidence-based practices or regulatory guidelines.
Participates in both facility specific and system-wide performance improvement initiatives. Leads, guides and trains other people in Infection Prevention.
What you will do
- Performs complex infection-related surveillance and statistical data analysis.
- Demonstrates the ability to build trusting collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team to support patient care needs.
Actively participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings.
- Develops or assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of the Infection Prevention Plan.
- Conducts infection prevention audits and rounding. Provides feedback and guidance to leaders regarding infection prevention issues.
Conducts outbreak investigations. Identifies exposures and collaborates with Employee Health. Reports infection prevention findings and data to appropriate committees.
Demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to apply evidence-based guidelines and standards and regulatory standards (CMS, DNV-GL, OSHA, etc.
when assessing the environment, observing patient care activities and processes, developing policy and procedure and educating staff and physicians across the continuum.
Demonstrates initiative in professional development and continuing education. Assists in the professional development of other Infection Preventionists through guidance and teaching.
Attends professional meetings and educational offerings. Collaborates with all team members and the System Director of Infection Prevention to identify educational needs and plan educational programs.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Required)
- Masters Degree, Nursing (Preferred)
Experience
- 7-10 years Clinical nursing experience (Required)
- 5-6 years Infection Prevention experience (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) - State Department of Health Professions Upon Hire(Required)
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) from CBIC Upon Hire (Required)
