We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Cardiac Surgery Unit with a specific focus on the early mobilization of postoperative cardiac surgery patients.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, with a passion for promoting recovery through early mobilization techniques and personalized patient support.

Setting : Cardiac Surgery Unit

Hours : 7A-3P / 8A-4P / 9A-5P

Physical Demands : The role involves frequent walking, standing, and patient lifting. Protective equipment and proper training will be provided to ensure safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Early Mobilization : Assist postoperative cardiac patients with early mobilization strategies, including but not limited to : bedside exercises, sitting up, standing, and walking, as directed by the RN and healthcare team.
• Patient Monitoring : Monitor and record vital signs, pain levels, and overall patient comfort. Report any changes or concerns to the RN immediately.
• Assist with Daily Activities : Aid patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and feeding, ensuring their comfort and safety.
• Education and Support : Educate patients and their families about the importance of early mobilization and provide guidance on exercises and activities.
• Documentation : Accurately document patient progress, responses to mobilization efforts, and any other relevant information in the patient's medical record.
• Collaboration : Work closely with the healthcare team, including RNs, physical therapists, and physicians, to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Safety and Hygiene : Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards.
• Emergency Response : Assist in emergency situations as needed, providing support and following established protocols.

Qualifications

Education : High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a CNA training program required.

Certification : Current certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Kentucky.

Experience : Previous experience as CNA is preferred. Experience with early mobilization techniques is a plus.

Skills : Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Knowledge of cardiac conditions and postoperative care is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements : Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, assisting with patient transfers, and standing for extended periods.

Must be able to safely assist patients with mobility.
