Description
Summary :
Works in collaboration with the Nursing Department Managers and Supervisors to identify educational needs of the patient population in CSR Women's Services and CSR Children's Hospital in the specialty area regarding lactation as well as educational needs of the staff, to develop programs to meet these needs, and evaluate outcomes.
Supports and promotes breastfeeding of infants, provides consultation for mothers experiencing difficulties with breastfeeding.
In addition to direct patient and family education, orients new hospital staff, trains and serves as a mentor to staff regarding lactation.
Collaborates with Nurse Managers to assure competency validation of new staff and facilitates annual competency validation updates regarding lactation.
Requirements :
- Minimum associate degree in nursing and Lactation experience and expertise.
- 3 years of experience in breastfeeding education
- RN license and Lactation Consultant Certification.
