Position Purpose This position is responsible for providing quality drug distribution and clinical pharmaceutical care for patients and house staff within established guidelines and statutory requirements.
Nature and Scope This position is challenged to provide pharmaceutical care to each of its customers to varying extents;
the preparation, distribution, and handling of pharmaceuticals; advise for administration, provision of drug information and general drug therapy monitoring within the Renown Health System.
The major challenge is to harmoniously bridge the distributive responsibilities of the pharmacy with the clinical responsibilities.
This position is responsible for ensuring that medications are dispensed in a timely, accurate, safe and cost effective manner with the assistance of the technical staff.
In addition, this position is responsible for monitoring drug therapy in various areas including parenteral nutrition, pharmacokinetic monitoring, renal dosing and IV to oral medication conversion.
The incumbent can recommend appropriate drug therapy to the physician, monitor therapy for desired outcomes per protocol, and is expected to initiate appropriate formulary policy procedures.
Communication with physicians and nursing staff regarding drug therapies is expected to be appropriate and effective.
This position is responsible for assuring accuracy in the preparation of medications, records, labels, and documentation in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations, and hospital policy.
The position is responsible for maintaining, updating, and monitoring each patient's medication profile; and to ensure the timely and accurate processing of all patient charges.
The incumbent is challenged to assist in the training of pharmacists, technicians, interns, and students as well as the supervision of pharmacy interns, students and technicians for accuracy, adherence to policy and procedure, and coordination of workload.
The position functions as a resource to management with respect to quality initiatives participation, serving as a liaison between nursing and pharmacy, and providing information to improve and enhance services.
The incumbent will be required to work varying shifts and days to meet the needs of the Department of Pharmacy which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Overtime may be requested.
The incumbent is expected to attend on a regular basis staff meetings, pharmacist meetings, etc.
The incumbent may perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements - Required and / or Preferred Name Description Education : Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English.
Completion of a Pharmacy Clinical Practice Residency or equivalent training program in clinical pharmacy is preferred. Experience : Applicants with previous hospital pharmacy experience will be given preference.
License(s) : Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Pharmacist license. Certification(s) : Healthcare BLS within the first 90 days of employment is required for all locations.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within the first 90 days of employment is required for location 200211. Computer / Typing : Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Type 25 WPM.
