The Manager Pharmacy Operations is accountable for managing staff, operations, systems, and resources to ensure optimal results and high employee engagement.
The Manager is responsible for continuous monitoring of pharmacy processes to promote a safe and efficient environment. Assures that the department is run according to organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Provides leadership for the overall daily operation of the Pharmacy in providing safe and effective pharmacy services. Manages the operations and functions of IV admixture services assuring that all operational and regulatory requirements are met.
Develops and updates policies and procedures to comply with regulatory requirements and best practices. Monitors workflow on an ongoing basis and formulates strategies for continuous improvement.
And accountable for maintaining workplace safety.
Essential Functions
Leads, organizes, and monitors the operational functions of the department to ensure efficient and safe workflow with appropriate coverage is consistently achieved.
Oversees drug diversion prevention and monitoring activities including ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
Accountable for safe and efficient IV admixture service operations in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Has all the responsibilities of the designated person for all sterile and non-sterile compounding as defined by regulatory bodies.
Manages pharmacy automation including monitoring, reporting, and process improvement.
Designs, implements, and executes departmental performance improvement activities relative to safety, best practices, and regulatory compliance.
Provides corrective action for performance improvement and medication management events, documenting action taken and implementing preventative measures.
Manages the departmental schedule and ensures optimal staffing for workflow needs.
Provides oversight for drug procurement, storage, inventory management and dispensing procedures.
Develops and updates departmental and hospital policies and procedures to comply with regulatory requirements and best practices.
Participates in departmental, hospital, and health system committees and task forces; consistently contributes and makes recommendations.
Coordinates and monitors activities to effectively provide orientation, ongoing training, education programs and evaluation processes for pharmacy staff.
Evaluates, monitors, and implements safe medication processes and best medication management practices.
Coordinates and monitors compliance with regulatory agencies regarding medication management processes.
Maintains working knowledge and can perform basic staff duties to provide coverage for service if required.

Qualifications :
Education Requirements
Completes and maintains all competencies and trainings as required for role.
Doctorate Degree - OR - combination of relevant education & experience may be considered in lieu of Doctorate Degree

Hospital pharmacy experience
Hospital pharmacy operations including leading projects and initiatives
Sterile IV compounding experience
Managerial or supervisory experience
Certification and Licensure
PA Pharmacist License
