Your Role :

The Flood Control Field Inspector plays a crucial role in assessing and estimating the impact of damage caused by natural disasters, particularly in the context of water-related events.

Inspection and Assessment :

  • Watershed and Connectors (detention basins, ponds) Examination : Inspect assigned watersheds for debris and erosion.
  • Estimation : Based on the examination, estimate the number of cubic yards of debris as well as the extent of erosion.

Documentation and Reporting :

  • Detailed Descriptions : The assessor prepares detailed descriptions of the damage observed, including the extent of structural, environmental, and infrastructure impact via a Field Collector app.
  • Supporting Documentation : The assessor provides supporting documentation to include damage narratives and photos for insurance claims, disaster recovery efforts, and government assistance programs.

Collaboration and Verification :

  • Collaboration : Work closely with local, state, and federal officials, as well as other assessors.
  • Verification : Assessors verify that assessments align with established criteria (such as FEMA-defined standards).
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.

Qualifications :

  • Knowledge of and experience using Esri Support ArcGIS Survey123 Connect, Xactimate, RS Means or other similar system is preferred
  • Prior experience performing inspections for disaster recovery program(s) preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to produce quality work products with attention to detail.
