Position Highlights : Observation Unit
- Number of beds on unit : 35
- Patient population : The Observation Unit provides acute care for a variety of medical issues, including cardiac, general surgery, and behavioral health.
Patients typically stay for 24-48 hours.
- Nurse to Patient ratio : 1 : 5-6
- Department culture and resources : The Observation unit is fast-paced and team-oriented. It works closely with physicians and has a robust Partnership Committee.
- Frequent nursing skills / equipment used : Foley / IV / NG insertions, Nursing prioritization, IV pumps, Lift equipment, SCDs, Telemetry monitoring, Patient connection
The LPN will work alongside an RN or UNL to assist with patient care. Tasks may include administering medications, documentation, communication with providers, wound care, trach care, NG tube insertion, ostomy care, and patient education.
