Welder

Fleet Solutions team of skilled technicians overhaul units in the shop and travel the world to perform troubleshooting and repairs to naval ships where they are stationed.

While other Curtiss-Wright business units and other manufacturers design and manufacture new products for naval applications, Fleet Solutions technicians provide the installation, start-up, and maintenance of the components and systems.

Your Challenges

  • Reading and understanding blueprints prior to starting a repair project
  • Ensure the proper materials are used to complete each project
  • Measuring and cutting materials to project specifications
  • Select proper welding materials to join metals together
  • Check all finished work to ensure it meets specifications and within the tolerances marked on the blueprints
  • Use specialized machinery for industrial welding
  • Maintain and repair all welding machinery
  • Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors
  • Follow and enforce strict safety regulation such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes
  • Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions
  • Support maintenance repair functions as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Bring

  • A valid certification in welding from an accredited institution is preferred
  • Oracle or similar MRP System is a plus
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Clearance
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints / drawings
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Work well with general supervision
