The Safety & Regulatory Compliance Manager manages the regulatory compliance efforts and builds safety culture for the organization.

This person should make safety regulations easy to understand and implement safety practices to improve our daily work. This person should also actively measure all safety and compliance efforts to lead us toward positive change in our safety practices.

To meet our expectations for what this role can be, you will participate thoughtfully during strategic discussions of business goals and action plans.

As our organization is regulated by many regulatory bodies, we expect you to have familiarity and experience in managing FDA, DOT, OSHA, EPA, Homeland Security, State & Local Governments, and the Fire Department regulations.

You will manage all claims, audit our practices, and push us to be ever smarter and safer in our work, because doing it right the first time is actually faster, even when cutting corners is tempting.

Operating in 5 states with 14 branches, this is a leadership role and will come with the responsibility of leading RMA’s goal to maximize the safety and performance of the company.

The Safety Manager role will teach best practices to our branch and production plant managers and assist them in improving the safety of their teams.

We believe that the right person for this position will not accept excuses and will not coddle people. Instead, this person will work well with people through relationship management to improve the overall safety habits of our employees.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for development and maintenance of company-wide safety training, risk assessments and behavior modification programs
  • Identify hazards and incidents of regulatory non-compliance, behavior that leads to issues and recommend corrective measures
  • Manage claim investigations and evaluate risk management claims
  • Lead all employees and teams to work more efficiently and smarter through safety compliance. This may include communicating and implementing best practices, improving processes, establishing new policies (or doing away with old ones) and keeping standard operating procedures up-to-date
  • Travel should be anticipated, and at most, would be 20%

Key Success Metrics :

We’ll measure your success on-the-job using the following indicators :

  • Insurance claims and accident measurements are continuously low and infrequent over time people are not getting hurt on the job
  • Audits by consulting groups for medical, DOT, and FDA beverage regulations maintain good scores or improve from bad scores over time
  • Audits by government agencies produce continuously good scores over time
  • CSA scores remain in positive standing over time

Skills & Qualifications :

  • 5-10 years of experience in safety and regulations relating to manufacturing and distribution of compressed gases (industrial gas preferred)
  • B.S. degree required background in chemistry or industrial engineering preferred
  • Knowledge and competency in FDA medical gas manufacturing and distribution
  • Knowledge and competency in DOT compliance with interstate transportation of hazardous materials
  • Knowledge and competency in OSHA guidelines
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A high attention to detail, good time management and impeccable organization skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a structured environment
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to lead in process adherence and growth in safety practices
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
