Purpose
This position was created to ensure smooth coordination of various departments on the shift to maximize the efficiency of the production and to attain the best quality of the products while maintaining the safest and sanitary working conditions.
Furthermore, the Asst. manager must coordinate the activities with his or her counterpart to standardize the operation.

General Duties :
Nissin Foods Co. (USA) attempts to provide full and complete operational instruction and procedures to the superintendent staff;
however, at times, occasions arise which are not clearly defined to the superintendent staff.
For that reason, a Production Manager is assigned to each shift to render operational decisions with respect to the quality standards of Nissin Foods USA and to the principle of SQF, GMP, HACCP, Cal OSHA regulations and all other regulatory constrains under which we need to operate the plant, in the absence of the higher management personnel.
The primary responsibility is to manufacture safe products through the most efficient manner, under the safest environment, and under the condition which yields the uniform quality, and to maintain 100 % case attainability while yielding 100 % flour recovery ratio, ensuring that the production activities are confirming to SQF GMP, HACCP and all other regulatory constrains as well as fulfilling the documentation requirement specified on the Standard Operating Procedures.
Productivity and labor force management
The Production Manager is responsible for the productivity of the plant and is required to attain standard yields and standard case attainability at 100%, while producing safe quality products.
The Production Manager is responsible for the labor force management and is expected to carry out the manufacturing activities with the standard number of the direct and indirect labor force.
Budget Management
The Production Manager is responsible for the budget of the plant, which has been assigned to them and is to make certain that (s)he assists the plant manager to maintain and conform to all governing regulations, and to manage the spending and the capital budget of the plant.
Legal Compliance
Responsible to ensure that the plant activities conform to the regulations of City, County, State and Federal governments and to assist the plant manager in implementing procedures to assure such compliances.
Safety management
The Production Manager is responsible for implementing and executing procedures to ensure the safest working environment in which all required regulations of City, County, State and Federal governments, and the standards of Nissin Foods USA are met.
Sanitation Management
The Production Manager is responsible for implementing and executing procedures to ensure that the manufacturing facility is following Good Manufacturing Practice as defined CFR 21 and the standards of Nissin Foods USA.
The secondary responsibility is to ensure that all machinery / equipment is in good working condition to produce a safe standard quality of the products.
- Coordinate the activities with Management on the other shift and allocate the common responsibilities, and report the responsibilities allocated to the Plant Manager in writing.
- Establish the most effective inspection method for all the machinery / equipment on the lines.
- Keep the downtime of machinery / equipment as well as the processing lines, by reporting the condition of all the machinery / equipment and propose the countermeasures to the plant manager in writing.
- Review the machinery / equipment conditions with the counterpart in the Maintenance Department and coordinate maintenance activities with the Maintenance Department.
- Establish the most effective preventive maintenance cleaning plan and maintain its documentation.
- Establish the master line sanitation plan and periodically review the effectiveness of the master plan.
- Purchase and maintain the inventory of production parts, tools, and others.
In pursuit of the primary objective, the Production Manager is given Chief Superintendent, Superintendent I, Superintendent II and Superintendent III and is expected to manage them to the fullest extent.
Responsibilities : Directly supervises employees in the Production dept. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies, practices, and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include having a full and complete understanding of SQF, GMP, HACCP and SOP of food production facility;
training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and / or Experience : Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college of technical school and at least seven years of related experience including three years of supervisory experience;
or twelve years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write and speak effectively in groups and is capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
Mathematical Skills : He or she must understand units that are used in the plant, gallons, litter, inches, meters, kilograms, and pounds and how to apply them mathematically.
Computer Skills : Strong computer skills required, i.e., MS Office, Excel, and Access. Experience with warehouse management software, a plus.
Reasoning Ability : Must have the ability to apply common sense to understanding and carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions.
Must have the ability to resolve and deal with simple problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations within the production processing operation.
Must have basic comprehension of reports that (s)he needs to submit to senior management staff.
