Position Summary :
The Department of Health Policy is seeking a full-time Research Assistant in support of research activities under the supervision of a faculty member, Dr. Peter Cunningham.
Position Responsibilities :
- Assist with surveys of Virginia Medicaid members on a variety of topics, such as substance use disorders, postpartum care, and member experiences with care
- Assist in the coordination of research processes and documentation which may include filing, office organization, and mailings
- Provide administrative support to research activities which may include reviewing research materials in Microsoft Word, Excel, and REDCap
- Assist the research coordinator in drafting budgets, scheduling Zoom / telephone interviews, and supply ordering
- Meets with research team regularly to maintain ongoing communication regarding the quality of the research assistant's performance
- Performs other related duties as required
Required Qualifications :
- Experience with conducting surveys of Virginia Medicaid members
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to follow instruction
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven ability to think critically and operate from a place of sound judgment
- Ability to be responsible with data and adhere to strict privacy and confidentiality
protocols
- Proactive personality with willingness to ask questions when unsure
- Must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in past experiences or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications :
- Previous office work or research experience preferred
- Ability to move and lift heavy boxes (20+ pounds)
