The Director of Human Resources is responsible for overseeing and managing the HR functions at Aman New York. This role plays a critical part in aligning HR strategies with the business objectives of the property, ensuring the attraction, development, and retention of top talent.

The incumbent will lead a team of HR professionals, working closely with property managers and corporate leadership to foster a positive work environment that supports guest satisfaction and business success.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategic HR Leadership :
  • Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the business goals of Aman New York.
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to the General Manager and leadership team providing guidance on HR-related matters.
  • Ensure that HR practices are consistent and adhere to company policies and local regulations.
  • Talent Acquisition & Management :
  • Lead recruitment efforts to attract high-quality candidates for all levels of positions within the property.
  • Oversee onboarding processes to ensure new hires are effectively integrated into the company culture and operations.
  • Develop and implement talent management programs, including succession planning, to support career development and internal mobility.
  • Employee Relations & Engagement :
  • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
  • Handle complex employee relations issues, providing counsel and resolution strategies.
  • Design and implement employee engagement initiatives that enhance job satisfaction and reduce turnover.
  • Training & Development :
  • Identify training needs and develop programs that address skills gaps, improve performance, and support career growth.
  • Facilitate leadership development programs to build management capabilities and ensure a pipeline of future leaders.
  • Oversee compliance training to ensure all employees are aware of legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Compensation & Benefits :
  • Oversee the administration of compensation and benefits programs to ensure competitiveness and equity within the market.
  • Conduct regular reviews of compensation practices to ensure alignment with company goals and industry standards.
  • Work with corporate HR to design and implement benefit programs that meet the needs of employees while managing costs.
  • Compliance & Risk Management :
  • Ensure that all HR practices within the area comply with local, state, and federal employment laws.
  • Manage risk by addressing potential legal issues and ensuring that all policies and procedures are consistently applied.
  • Lead investigations into employee grievances or disciplinary matters and make recommendations based on findings.
  • HR Metrics & Reporting :
  • Track and analyze HR metrics to assess the effectiveness of HR initiatives and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and present reports on HR activities, challenges, and achievements to senior management.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to inform HR strategies and decision-making.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field.

A Master's degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SPHR) is preferred. They will have at least 5-7 years of HR experience, with 3-5 years in a leadership role within the luxury hospitality industry.

The successful candidate will possess strong leadership and team management skills, excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, and a deep understanding of HR best practices, labor laws, and regulatory requirements in the hospitality industry.

Proficiency in HRIS systems, data analysis, and Microsoft Office Suite is required.
