Director, Risk Appetite & Limits - C15 (Hybrid)

The Strategy Senior Group Manager is responsible for the development of Citi's risk appetite framework, including risk appetite statement, risk appetite assessment, risk appetite limits, etc.

with a focus on financial risks (e.g., wholesale, retail, market trading, etc.). The candidate will work with a team of junior analysts to establish an enterprise limit framework tied to Citi's capital, earnings, liquidity constraints, and cascade such limit framework to applicable business operating units.

The candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining the necessary policies / procedures associated with Citi's risk appetite process and this enterprise limit framework.

The candidate will have active engagement opportunities with Finance, Business and other Risk partners in pushing Citi's risk appetite agenda and be expected to present risk appetite & limits related topics in senior management forums.

Analytical thinking, attention to detail, creative solution making and ability to drive consensus would be key to the success of being in this position.

Responsibilities :

  • Develop risk appetite statement, risk appetite assessment, risk appetite metric selection process, with a focus on financial risks
  • Establish enterprise limit framework tied to Citi's capital, liquidity, earnings constraints
  • Develop methodology to cascade enterprise limits to operating business units
  • Develop Legal Entity limit setting methodology for significant legal entities
  • Develop process to align risk appetite to strategic planning and capital planning
  • Lead a team of junior analysts
  • Engage with Risk, Business, Finance stakeholders to push Citi's risk appetite & limits agenda

Qualifications :

  • 10+ years experience in leading or managing team.
  • 15+ years relevant experience in enterprise risk management or financial risk management, familiar with limit calibration methodology and limit setup framework.
  • Good understanding of strategic planning and capital planning process.
  • In-depth experience with risk appetite statement, risk appetite assessment, risk appetite metric selection process.
  • Good understanding of stress testing analytics and its use in BAU risk management limit setting and monitoring
  • Problem structuring & causal thinking, sound business judgment, and demonstrated result orientation. Outstanding analytical and quantitative capabilities;

history of academic and professional excellence and achievement. Creativity thinking; thinks outside the box and challenges conventional wisdom.

  • Collaborative work style; effectively interacts with partners across organizational boundaries / hierarchies.
  • Displays a leadership presence; commands respect and will earn trust of senior leaders. Multi-tasks productively and reliably, while managing conflicting priorities.

Education :

Bachelors / University degree or equivalent experience, preferably Masters degree
