Job Summary
Under general supervision, deliver patient care within scope of clinic expectations.
Essential Functions :
- Performs ocular examinations, including : history taking, visual acuity, ocular motility, alignment and intraocular pressure assessment, lensometry and pupillary assessments. (30%)
- Performs visual field testing, OCT, pachymetry, topography, biometry and ocular photography. (20%)
- Performs refractometry and records findings accurately for provider review. (20%)
- Determines need / urgency of care based on patient information, medical record and presenting signs / symptoms. (5%)
- Provides post-operative and contact lens instructions to patients. (5%)
- Provides explanations regarding prescriptions for medications and glasses to patients. (5%)
- Assists providers in basic patient procedures. (5%)
- Responsible for stocking exam rooms and maintaining exam room equipment. (5%)
- Assists providers with administrative tasks including clincial paperwork and inbasket management. (5%)
Education :
High School Diploma or GED Required
Work Experience :
1-3 years Experience as an ophthalmic technician required, multi-specialty ophthalmology setting preferred
Licenses :
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS / CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Proficiency in EMR
