FOR RN : Common Diagnosis / Treatment : Equipped to handle situations ranging from acute medical and surgical emergencies to other urgent illnesses and injuries.

Level 2 Trauma Center, Regional Stroke and Stemi centerIV Pumps : Types : Alaris smart pumpLevel of Care : Level II Trauma and Stroke Center, Emergency CareNumber of Beds : 41Nurse to Patient Ratio : 1 : 4Weekend Requirements : Every other weekendType of Staff Scheduling : self schedulingCharting : EpicScrub Color : AnyPatient Experience Challenges / Focus : No space for visitors, under construction next two yearsFOR LPN : The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Acute Care provides skilled nursing care tasks and procedures under the direction of an RN, nursepractitioner, clinical nurse specialist, physician, or other authorized health care provider in the Inpatient Specialty Care departments.

Work EnvironmentThe work is usually performed in an office setting. Occasionally, there may be exposure to the risks and hazards of work environments and conditions requiring special safety precautions and clothing.

All Age GroupsAny special procedure done on the unit?Triage area - responsible for nebulizers, EKG, point of care testing, PO meds, IM injections, IV starts and fluid maintenace, lab draws, foley catheter insertionPatient care delivery system (EG, Primary Care, Team Nrg) : Team modelEssential Functions : Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that are performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Performs clinical assignments within scope of practice to maximize patient experience and ensure patient safety.Promotes and facilitates the compliance and understanding of Joint Commission, NYS DOH, Infection Control and allregulatory standards.
• Under the direction of a provider or RN, educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management usingavailable resources.
• Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to UHS Hospitals policy.Maintains CLIA Waived Lab standards and performs CLIA Waived Lab testing and proficiency validations according toregulatory standards.

Includes tri annual AAFP Lab Proficiency testing, lab quality controls and lab credentialing if requiredby department.

• Collaborates with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care.Participates in Performance Improvement activities, reviews PI data and assists in the development of PerformanceImprovement plans.
