TheIDEAL School of Manhattan currently seeks a highenergy passionateeducator to offer 1 : 1 support as anAssociate Teacher in High School with a student with moderate tosignificant disabilities in an inclusionclassroom.
IDEAL s Associate Teacherprogram provides a unique opportunity for special and generaleducators to gain experience through collaboration with establishedclassroom teachers.
Associate Teachers will not only support theirindividual student but will also support students in small groupsunder the guidance of the lead classroom teachers.
This role willcommence late August2024.
Theideal candidate will have a strong ability to collaborate andfollow the design of the established classroom routine as well asthe ability to create individual goals for his or her assignedstudent.
The ability to differentiate curriculum and designinstructional support is required. Experience with behaviormanagement and the ability to implement creative strategies is aplus.
This individual may provide mobility support and assistancewith Activities of Daily Living (ADL) asneeded.
Inaddition to supporting her or his individual student and workingclosely with classroom teachers to design and differentiatecurriculum Associate Teachers can select an individual area inwhich they will contribute to school life and be supported ingrowing their skills.
Some may elect to provide tutoring or leadsmall groups each day in the Lower Middle or High School LearningCenters while others may want to teach an elective in an area ofinterest develop an afterschool workshop or create another projectthat develops a skill set and benefits the IDEAL community.
Discussion of the broader area in which successful candidates wouldlike to contribute and grow is a part of the hiringprocess.
Responsibilitiesinclude :
Workingas a member of a teaching team in an inclusive school to plan anddifferentiate curriculum support established classroom routines andsupport allstudents
Collaboratingand following the design of the established classroom curriculum aswell as creating and implementing individual goals for assignedstudent
Partneringwith teachers therapists and additional professionals on theimplementation of support strategies acrosssettings
Creatingdifferentiated lessons and materials to support assigned student saccess to thecurriculum
Providingsupport for Activities of Daily Living asneeded
Communicatingproactively on a daily basis with the family of assignedstudent
AttendingCSE meetings and yearly goal reviews asneeded
Utilizingspecific instructional techniques to meet individual studentneeds
Supportingthe school by contributing in an aspect of school life determinedin coordination with division head and leadteachers
