Do you have exceptional communication skills and experience administering fiscal operations? If so, the Luzerne and Wyoming Counties Drug & Alcohol Department may be the place for you! We are looking for a dedicated County Fiscal Officer 1 to complete our team.

This position gives you the opportunity to become a major asset to a team that plans, designs, and implements a comprehensive array of services covering the full continuum of care to the residents of Luzerne and Wyoming Counties .

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a County Fiscal Officer 1, you will be tasked supervising the overall activities of the fiscal department to ensure that invoices are paid in a timely manner.

This includes ensuring expenses are coded to the proper general ledger accounts and cash receipts are recorded properly.

You will have the opportunity to assist the Fiscal Officer 2 and County Drug & Alcohol Administrator with preparing the fiscal year budget to the Pennsylvania Department of Drug & Alcohol Programs (DDAP).

Work also includes maintaining the accrual balances of each employee in the time tracking system, providing quarterly reports to the employees, as well as reviewing the accrual balances in the Kronos / New World systems to identify and resolve accrual discrepancies.

Work Schedule and Additional Information :

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8 : 30 AM to 4 : 30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework : You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes-Barre.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements :

  • Two years as a Fiscal Technician and six college credits in accounting;or
  • Five years of bookkeeping experience and six college credits in accounting;or
  • Three years of accounting and / or budgetary experience and a business related associate's degree that includes six college credits in accounting;or
  • One year of accounting and / or budgetary experience and a business-related bachelor's degree that includes six college credits in accounting;or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes or is supplemented by six college credits in accounting.
