UDR, Inc. is hiring a Benefits Administrator to join our team at our corporate office in Highlands Ranch.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES : Responsible for administering and assisting in maintaining the leave programs for the company.
This position will inform, guide, and advise associates on benefit matters regarding eligibility and coverage. This will include maintaining accurate benefit records and proper documentation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
1. Coordinate intake of leave requests including workers comp and send required notices, forms, letters, and determine associate eligibility.
2. Communicates with associates regarding their needs for leave and / or modified work schedules. Ensures that associates are aware of their responsibilities within the leave of absence process.
3. Support the daily management of leaves related to : FMLA, Non FMLA, WC, ADA, Section 125, COBRA, HIPAA, IRS, Sick Time, and FLSA leave procedures.
4. Coordinate with appropriate departments to evaluate the need for potential accommodations.
5. Serve as a trusted advisor and expert in all leave types, partnering closely with the local office Human Resources teams to ensure proper directive.
6. Intake and coordinate all open and upcoming leave of absence and workers comp including issuance and tracking of all applicable documentation maintenance of leave administration system, coordination and communication with carriers and internal stakeholders, (HR, Payroll, Management team).
7. Advises managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workers compensation, accommodations, and short-term and long-term disability benefits.
8. Calculate supplemental pay that coordinates with the Company's short term disability policy and in some cases, state payments, with a superior level of accuracy.
Coordinate with the Payroll team to ensure proper payments and manage collection of any overpayments.
9. Facilitate the tracking of unpaid, intermittent FMLA claims, including use of required paid time off, manager notification, and return-to-work.
10. Ongoing absence management when an associate is unable to return to work as expected or the return date is pending.
11. Oversees the return-to-work process for associates returning from extended FMLA, Non FMLA, ADA, workers compensation, or other leave(s).
12. Maintain a deep understanding of relevant federal and state regulations to ensure compliance and provide accurate guidance to employees and managers, including but not limited to FMLA, paid / unpaid Family leave laws, HIPAA, COBRA, ERISA.
WC, ADA, Section 125, HIPAA, IRS, Sick Time, and FLSA.
13. Develop and implement streamlined systems and processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and accessibility of leave-related information.
14. Develop or update materials or communications related to the leave process.
15. Preserve confidentiality of associate medical documentation and files
16. Audit internal record of leaves of absence and workers comp against outsourced disability vendor's records to ensure accuracy for the purpose of identifying and resolving discrepancies.
17. Audit HRIS Benefit Premiums and work with associate's payment schedule to ensure associate benefit premiums are being paid monthly.
18. Project support : Assist in the planning and execution of benefit projects, ensuring smooth transitions and effective change management.
19. Assist with other HR / Benefit related duties.
20. Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS :
Strong general human resources and benefits management skills required. Thorough knowledge and experience of Company's attendance, leave and worker's compensation policies and procedures.
Thorough knowledge of Federal / State laws as they relate to attendance, leave and worker's compensation. Must be knowledgeable of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medial Leave Act, state and local family leave acts and associate's privacy protection under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Professional interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to respond to and communicate effectively with managers and associates, provide outstanding customer service while handling difficult and / or sensitive leave situations.
- Ability to exercise initiative, problem solving and decision-making skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet critical deadlines.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret benefit report and various documents. Ability to apply intermediate concepts of math.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Knowledge of computer systems and applications. Skilled in the use of spreadsheet, and word processing software. Ability to process computer data and to write, format and generate advanced reports.
Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS : Occasionally lifting items weighing up to 30 lbs. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.
Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Extensive data input and required ability to sit for long periods of time.
Regular and consistent attendance on the job is an essential function.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS : Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
2. Minimum of two years of benefit-related experience required with significant focus on LOA, ADA, WC, FMLA, Non-FMLA and sick time management.
3. National working experience within all fifty states required.
4. Strong program / process management.
5. Proven history of process optimization, utilizing right-touch technology and automation.
6. Customer-service focused. This role will have heavy interaction with associates. Must enjoy working with and supporting associates.
7. Ability to collaborate across national geographies and stakeholder groups.
8. Strong knowledge of the following current and proposed Federal and State laws : FMLA, Non FMLA, WC, ADA, Section 125, COBRA, HIPAA, IRS, Sick Time, and FLSA.
9. Proficiency in all Microsoft applications.
10. Advanced proficiency in Excel and HRIS analytics and reporting.
11. Previous experience with an HRIS / online benefit portal.

Hourly Range :
$30.96 / hr. - $37.15 / hr., depends on experience
Bonus Potential :
Eligible for 10% annual bonus potential, based on personal and company performance
