As a Medical Collection Specialist you will :
- Review records for outstanding and unpaid claims to determine collection activities.
- Contact payor sources to determine the status of payments and ensure timely payments of claims.
- Maintain records and prepare reports as requested.
- Research patient insurance information and update billing information.
- Submit timely appeals and follow up on claims at various stages of the collection process.
- Document all collection efforts per company policies and procedures.
- Attend and participate in in-services and staff meetings to continue acquiring knowledge of collections processes, billing systems, practices, and policies.
- Protect the privacy rights of patients and maintain the confidentiality of all financial and other records.
- Complete all documentation accurately and legibly.
- Comply with hospice policies and procedures, laws and regulations, and standards of practice.
This is a Full-Time 1st On-site Opportunity.
Pay Rate : $21-25 / hr
The ideal candidate will have :
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
- At least one year of experience in medical collections and a general understanding of collection and billing practices, including appeal processes and deadlines.
- Knowledge of medical collection practices, billing requirements, medical terminology, hospice and palliative care services, computers, and billing software.
- Effective writing and communication skills, especially by telephone.
- Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
- Understanding and maintaining deadlines with the ability to systematically follow-up and follow-through.
- Experience with Availity and Waystar portals.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to handle 20-30 claims per day.
- Willingness to learn the hospice portion of the role (appeals experience is essential).
- Collections experience is highly valued.
- Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
