Job Summary
The Supervisor, Nursing Support Services provides leadership to frontline delivery teams supporting
Reports to : Director, Case Management
Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to :
Provide supervision to health unit coordinators (HUCs), transporters, couriers, and equipment
technicians on assigned shift.
- Coordinate scheduling for regular staff and on call staff
- Performs rounds to ensure accountability of staff
- Monitor the Teletracking system to ensure transport jobs are being fulfilled in a timely fashion.
- Coordinates beds and equipment resources to ensure availability when needed
- Facilitate 90 day, annual evaluations, employee engagement activities, 03’s, coaching, and
corrective actions for staff members
Administer monthly Steps to Success and bi-annuals for transporters and monthly chart audits for
HUCs
May be required to leave the hospital for stat lab retrieval or the transport of the NICU Team to
the airport during their shift. May also delegate this responsibility to a qualified employee.
Collaborate with department managers to facilitate weekly huddles, attend necessary NSS
leadership meetings, and provide administrative support within a reasonable timeframe
- Participate in NSS on call rotation
- Assist with patient discharges using Safe Patient Handling
- Perform all other related duties assigned
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree + 2 years supporting nursing
- High School Diploma or GED + 5 years of prior experience administratively supporting nursing
teams, serving as a patient transporter, and / or equipment technician
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- 2 years leadership experience; leading people and / or processes
Required Licensures / Certifications / Registrations
TX Driver license and ability to be covered under UMC auto insurance
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated critical and problem-solving skills.
- Clear and concise communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, email, electronic medical documentation, etc.
- Strong intrapersonal skills to be able to interact with a wide-range of individuals including payors,
physicians, multi-disciplinary team, etc
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position has much interaction with nursing staff, and occasional interaction with medical staff.
