New England Cancer Specialists is looking for a Full-Time 4 day a week Surgical Breast Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Surgical Breast Team for our growing practice in Scarborough.
The candidate will have strong surgical experience with breast procedures. along with in office procedures. They will collaborate closely with the Surgical and Non Surgical Breast physicians assisting with preoperative, interoperative and postoperative procedures in addition to improve patient outcomes through evidence based practices.
The Advance Practice Provider is responsible for participating in the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care for benign and cancer patients undergoing breast-related surgical procedures.
This role involves working closely with NECS breast surgeon and the multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient care, from diagnosis to recovery.
It's preferred that the Advance Practice Provider will also have their RNFA to be able to perform surgical assistance in the operating room and provide clinical support and patient education in outpatient settings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic interpretation.
- Assist in the development and discussion of individualized care plans for patients undergoing breast surgery.
- Provide patient education on the surgical procedure, recovery expectations, and postoperative care.
- Assist breast surgeons during surgical procedures, such as mastectomies and lumpectomies.
- Perform surgical tasks within the scope of practice, including tissue handling, retraction, suturing, and wound closure.
- Perform in-office procedures, including drain removal, cyst aspiration, I&D.
- Monitor patient recovery, manage complications, and coordinate with the surgical team for postoperative care.
- Prescribe medications, manage wound care, and ensure follow-up for continued recovery.
- Educate patients and their families about home care, follow-up appointments, and when to seek medical attention.
- Manage a caseload of breast surgery patients in the clinic, providing consultations, follow-up visits, and management of chronic conditions related to breast health.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care as needed, including referrals to oncologists, radiologists, and plastic surgeons.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic medical systems (EMRs).
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to improve patient outcomes through evidence-based practices.
- Provide education on breast cancer screening, prevention, and breast health.
- Assist in counseling patients on genetic testing, reconstructive options, and other decisions related to breast surgery.
- Serve as a point of contact for patient concerns, providing emotional support and resources throughout their surgical journey.
- Participate in Community events as necessary
- License and current registration to practice in state.
- Graduate from a registered NP program or PA program
- Preferred RNFA certification
- Minimum of one full-time year of post-licensure clinical NP / PA experience preferred
