Overview
As a Health and Safety Supervisor, you will be responsible for all activities related to environmental, health and safety to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements and laws to prevent violations, hazards and injuries.
You will supervise and develop environmental, health and safety programs to educate employees, supervisors and managers and to prevent hazards, risks, and injuries.
This position will be 3rd shift.
Responsibilities
- Implement environmental, health, and safety programs at the facility to meet regulatory compliance and company goals.
- Maintain and update existing environmental and safety procedures, standard operating procedures, and policies.
- Partner with manufacturing supervisors to review and improve environmental health, and safety practices and ensure adoption by employees.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, regulations, and reporting in manufacturing.
- Perform hazardous risk assessments for tasks or jobs to identify potential hazards and develop risk prevention plan to mitigate them.
- Review testing analyses of noise levels and hazardous air contaminants and determine appropriate requirements for PPE and communication of hazards to employees.
Also coordinate programs leading to improved indoor air quality and lead exposure.
- Perform emergency response duties as required by the emergency response plan and participate in practice drills, plan reviews, and EHS department safety training programs.
- Perform EHS-related inspections and audits with appropriate corrective action.
- Perform accident investigations, identify causes, and provide corrective actions, change of standard operating procedures and change of engineering design as necessary.
- Prepare and maintain analytical reports and data tracking.
- Represent the company in a positive working relationship with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, and property insurance representatives.
- Supervise compliance for environmental certifications and regulations (e.g. ISO14001, waste water permits, storm water permits, air permits, and hazardous waste management)
- Attend all meetings and conduct training as scheduled.
- Undertake assigned projects as directed by the EHS Manager.
- Availability to work non-standard hours as needed
Qualifications
Education, Experience, Skills Required :
- Education (Required) High School Diploma or GED; (Preferred) Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or Safety Science
- Experience : 1 year + EHS consulting or facility EHS management in a manufacturing industry preferred
- OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification preferred
- Well developed written and oral communications skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of ISO14001, EHS Laws and Regulations.
- Ability to work effectively with other departments in the development of EHS programs.
Physical Requirements :
- Sitting, standing, walking, bending and twisting as necessary.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, respirator, safety glasses, and metatarsal guard shoes, etc.
as outlined in established policy.
- Will be exposed to extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, humid)
- Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
Equipment Used :
PC with various software, office equipment, PPE as required.
