Job Description :
The Gadomski School of Engineering at Christian Brothers University seeks an effective educator for a faculty position in Chemical Engineering, with an expected start date of January 2025.
Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply by no later than August 2024; however this position will remain open until filled.
The faculty member must be capable and willing to teach any or all core chemical engineering undergraduate courses, including unit operations laboratories.
An ability to support courses in materials science would be a plus. Decisions for tenure, tenure-track, or non-tenure-track appointment will be based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant.
Chemical Engineering Core Courses :
- Introduction to Chemical Engineering.
- Thermodynamics (elementary and multi-component).
- Material and Energy Balances.
- Transport Phenomena (fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer).
- Unit Operations Laboratories.
- Reactor Design.
- Process Modeling and Control.
- Process Design.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
- Demonstrate excellent teaching in a full load each semester.
- Advise chemical engineering students on projects.
- Develop a research program that provides opportunities for meaningful undergraduate participation.
- Help develop and grow the AIChE Student Chapter.
- Participate collegially in department curriculum review and development.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities :
- Develop a research program that generates external funding and leads to scholarly publications.
- Serve on school and university committees.
Requirements :
- Ph.D. in Chemical, Biochemical, or Biomolecular Engineering.
- Proven teaching ability at the undergraduate level.
- Ability to pursue applied research and innovations to support current and future industry needs.
Preferred Qualities :
- Prior teaching experience at a primarily undergraduate institution.
- Ability to engage students in undergraduate research.
- Prior experience in externally funded applied research.
- Proficiency with current laboratory instrumentation.
- Ability to initiate and develop new programs / concentrations in chemical engineering and actively re-design and improve programs.
