Summary :
The Field Services Technician is responsible for theday-to-day operational support of the end user community throughthe installation, configuration, upgrade and maintenance ofworkstation and peripheral equipment.
This includes the resolutionof problems reported by the Customer Support Center and theimplementation of new functionality.
Documentation and adherence topolicies, procedures and standards of the organization is animportant part of this position.
The Field Services Technician isresponsible for delivering high quality, cost effective solutionsto all levels of users.
This includes support for both thetechnology and processes. The Field Services Technician is alsoresponsible for supporting the business goals and objectives forthe Department, the Information Services Organization, and theorganization as a whole.
Responsibilities :
Problem Solving Effectively assess, diagnoseand resolve basic configuration and hardware problems. Quickly andefficiently resolve problems assigned by the Customer SupportCenter.
Assess overall performance of workstations and implementstandard maintenance procedures to maximize performance.
Workstation Software With supervision,install, configure and maintain operating system software on clientworkstations. Provide support on basic features of applicationsoftware such as initiation of software, logging on, navigation andtermination.
Understand a subset of the total configurations in theorganization. Install, configure and maintain multiple workstationoperating systems that include DOS, Windows v3.
11, Windows 95,Windows 98, NetWare, Windows NT and Windows 2000. Install andmaintain software images that assists in managing clientworkstations.
Workstation Hardware Withdirection install, configure and maintain hardware for clientworkstations. Client hardware includes workstation hardware such asprocessors, memory, hard drives, modems, video cards, monitors,peripherals, and CD-ROM drives.
Possess the skills and knowledge inclient workstation technology to support configurations in theorganization.
- LAN Administration - Withsupervision, stop and restart services, shutdown and restartoperating system software on Windows NT, 2000 and Novell servers.
- Network Administration - With supervisionTelnets to local LAN switches and Hubs, activates ports forworkstations and printers.
- Telecom Withsupervision assists in the support and maintenance of thetelecommunication systems capable of providing dial-tone to thedesktop.
- Desktop Hardware and Software Withdirection, install, configure and maintain hardware and software.
- Communications - Demonstrate strongcommunication and human relationship skills.
- Inventory Management Track and document thehardware and software inventory.
- Standards Install, configure and maintain standards associated withworkstation and peripheral procedures anddocumentation.
- Policies and Procedures Follow established policies, procedures and standards defined bythe department.
- Communications - Demonstratestrong communication and human relationship skills.
- Vendor Management Contact vendors regardingservice issues to receive support information or assistance asinstructed by the supervisor.
- Documentation Produce and maintain technical documentation on the assignedsystems.
- Reporting Produce requireddepartment reporting associated with projects assigned by managerand problems assigned through help desk queues.
Documentationincludes current status and problem documentation summary withinthe problem management system.
ProjectManagement - With supervision, execute priorities, understandbusiness application, answer technical questions and perform allassigned tasks.
Serve as a resource to the project team forassigned client applications.
- Teamwork Maintain and demonstrate good teamwork on assigned projects throughactions and job performance.
- Customer Service- Provide effective Customer Service by being courteous, polite andfriendly toward others at all times.
Acknowledge customersimmediately in order to determine need and help the customerresolve issue or request. Participate in departmental programs thatpromote and deliver exceptional customerservice.
Other Perform other duties andspecial projects as assigned by the Market OperationsManager.
