JOB SUMMARY

The Sweeper I maintains an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility for students, staff and public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities and events;

and minimizing property damage, loss, and liability exposure.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check.

Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are :

Speak, read, write, and present professionally, analyze, and interpret English written and verbal communications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous work experience in custodial services
  • Experience in a K-12 education or public employment environment
  • Familiarity with methods of industrial cleaning; and safety practices and procedures
  • Spanish or other language proficiency, including ability to read, write, speak, and understand

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clean assigned school facilities (e.g. classrooms, offices, gym, multipurpose rooms, pools, grounds, etc.) to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment
  • Arrange furnishings and equipment to provide adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities, and events
  • As needed, roll, push, pull, bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 30 pounds
  • Assist in securing facilities and grounds to minimize property damage, equipment loss, and potential liability to organization
  • Attend in-service training (e.g. bloodborne pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, first aid, etc.) to receive information on new and improved procedures
  • On occasion, may be required to routinely sanitize restrooms according to department guidelines
  • Support a team environment by collaborating with own and other work units to effectively perform the duties of the position
  • Adapt to changing work priorities and work with frequent interruptions, as required
  • Work under limited supervision, utilizing time-management and prioritization strategies, accurately processing detailed information and meeting deadlines
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance to fulfill job requirements efficiently and effectively
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

EMPLOYEE SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : No

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands : some lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 30 pounds, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity.

Generally, the job requires 0% sitting, 50% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and in a generally hazard free environment.
