The Tax Analyst will be a critical part of the Tax Accounting Team, reporting to the Income Tax Manager and working closely with the Sales and Use tax team as well as other members of the accounting and tax departments and external consultants.

In this role, you will contribute to many aspects of both income tax and sales and use tax. This position requires an individual who is detail oriented with excellent analytical skills.

This position is based in our Waltham, MA office. We offer a flexible hybrid work environment, working three days in the Waltham office.

Gauges of Responsibility

  • Sales and Use Tax ComplianceAssist with the preparation and filing of state and local sales tax returns. Assist with state sales tax audits by gathering and preparing all necessary documentation and correspondence.
  • Income Tax ComplianceMaintain tax depreciation reports for income tax purposes. Provide depreciation projections and tax basis summaries as needed.

Support the quarterly and annual income tax provision process as needed.Work with external tax consultants to assist with the filing of federal, state, and local income tax returns, estimates, and projections as needed.

  • Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger tax accounts.
  • Prepare electronic or check payment requests for tax payments.
  • Assist with the resolution of tax notices.
  • Support new business initiatives and acquisitions by providing timely and accurate tax advice.
  • Assist with the analysis and research of federal, state, and local tax matters.
  • Keep current on relevant statutory / regulatory and / or technology changes to identify and implement necessary changes and best practices, including opportunities for process improvements.
  • Additional projects and administrative duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years of experience in multi-state sales and use tax.
  • 2+ years of experience in Tax Accounting.
  • Strong computer and technical skills including Microsoft Office Applications and tax research applications such as Checkpoint.
  • Experience with maintaining tax fixed assets is helpful, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of the Internal Revenue Code and Regulations is helpful, but not required.

Education Requirement

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field preferred or equivalent degree.
