Virtual Sign Language Interpreter
Location : Georgia, USA (Remote)
Job Type : Fulltime, School Year Contract
Responsibilities :
- Provide real-time virtual sign language interpretation during online classes, lectures, and educational activities.
- Ensure effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and other school staff.
- Facilitate understanding of lesson content, discussions, and assignments through clear and accurate interpretation.
- Collaborate with teachers and educational staff to support the academic and social development of students.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times in accordance with school policies and guidelines.
- Prepare and review materials related to sign language interpretation as needed.
- Attend virtual meetings and training sessions to stay updated on school policies, curriculum, and technology tools.
Qualifications :
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with a strong understanding of deaf culture.
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (e.g., RID certification) preferred.
- Ability to interpret complex subject matter accurately and effectively in real-time.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and parents.
