Our client is a prestigious investment and private equity firm headquartered in Chicago, IL. They are seeking to hire a Data Reporting Analyst.

Position Responsibilities

The Financial Reporting and Data Analyst is an important role within the finance Department as it seeks to support the Reporting Team in driving more efficient, standardized and robust reporting capability for the Firm, build a customer focused finance team and drive operational excellence.

This role will assist in supporting the designing, developing and implementation of reporting, to be responsive to both internal and external constituencies.

Specifically, the Reporting Team is charged with providing timely and effective management reporting, investor reporting, producing accurate regulatory and compliance reporting while driving operational efficiencies through process improvements and automation.

The overarching theme of the team and processes is exceptional focus on data, process and attention to detail. All expansion and process improvement efforts require that the team maintain this focus.

The Reporting Data Analyst will play a significant role in these efforts while being exposed to the core processes and deliverables of a fast-paced team serving a growing business.

Primary duties and responsibilities include :

Work closely with other finance and accounting personnel on implementing efficient and effective processes for reporting on the firm’s fast-growing private funds business need to maintain strong control while driving efficiency, standardization and automation in a collaborative manner

Manipulation and analysis of large amounts of data to produce financial, accounting, reporting deliverables and analysis

Optimize the current process and contribute to the system and process improvements needed for the longer-term growth and development

Assist in developing and maintaining effective processes to produce greater look-through reporting capabilities (within a complex structure) in response to investor and management reporting requests

Build and maintain D-base of financial metrics and data

Use of queries, D-base exports and data mining to access data from multiple systems

Utilize technological / analytical skills to develop new reporting analysis and automating current reports

Candidate Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (accounting or finance preferred)

2 to 3 years of meaningful, relevant experience in similar business is strongly desired

private equity / leveraged finance / hedge fund or similar)

Prior experience manipulating large amounts of data

Desire and aptitude to apply and infer financial meaning and understanding

High level of intellectual curiosity with a desire to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex business challenges

Strong accounting and financial analysis skills and instincts

High skill level in Excel required

Understanding of financial metrics (leverage calculations, return calculations, IRR and performance metrics)

Ability to learn and excel at day-to-day responsibilities and contribute to driving process improvement, standardization and automation
