Summary :
The Health Unit Coordinator works with physicians and nurses to transcribe orders, maintain patient charts, track order results and facilitate communication to keep unit organized and staff informed.
Activities performed are intended to support, supplement, and / or complement patient care provided by licensed clinical staff.
Responsibilities :
Perform administrative duties according to hospital and unit standards related to patient charts, patient orders, forms and records;
work as a team member to promote positive, accurate communication between staff and with patients / families; and maintain orderliness, safety and supplies in specific unit areas.
- Performs clerical functions associated with accurate record keeping, including but not limited to : transcription of physician orders, reconciliation of charges / census, entering data into Clinical System, generate reports and computer printouts, complete daily culture report for physician review, and heavy phone answering and documentation of calls.
- Assist with bed control duties to ensure patients are admitted to appropriate service in a timely manner; respond to visitors, patients and families, and other staff members in a manner that promotes a positive public image for Children's Medical Center;
may serve as a preceptor to other unit coordinators; and perform other duties and special projects as required.

WORK EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent
