Job Description
Under the direct supervision of licensed personnel, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs a variety of duties to assist the staff in delivery of patient care.
The PCT spends a majority of his or her time interacting with, assisting, and supporting our patients. Provides general non-technical assistance to the nursing staff.
Responsible for the general maintenance of equipment, room and supplies.
Responsibilities
- Performs all responsibilities / duties required by surgical services, as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the patients are addressed.
- Maintains the area, equipment, and level of supplies.
- Performs a variety of assisting and servicing activities, both with the patients and to help maintain the area.
- Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of data collected.
- Works effectively as part of the healthcare team to facilitate the unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
- Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to provide direct care to patients in collaboration with licensed personnel.
- Provides and gives cooperative and courteous service to patients, staff, visitors, and others as part of the organization's commitment to quality services.
- Maintains current knowledge / certification.
- Maintains supplies / inventory for department.
- Maintains supplies / inventory for department.
- Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization.
- May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and / or disasters.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Licenses and Certifications
BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Required
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively (High proficiency)
- Must show initiative, maturity, and effectiveness in dealing with people
- Well-groomed in appearance
- Appreciation of and desire to be part of a healthcare team
- Must be able to return to the hospital / facility within 30 minutes of a Callback.
