We are seeking a Research Occupational Therapist to work in the laboratory of Dr. Lauren Wengerd, PhD, MS, OTR / L. The Research Occupational Therapist will perform the following types of activities : administer rehabilitation interventions as described in our research protocols, evaluate participants using clinical assessments as described in our research protocols, participate in professional development and training activities related to the position, collaborate with an interprofessional team of clinicians, engineers, data scientists, and researchers to develop and execute rehabilitation protocols for people living with functional impairments due to neurological or orthopedic conditions, demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills required for working with research participants and interprofessional team members, maintain records and documentation of interventions / evaluations, supervise and / or mentor occupational therapy students working in Dr.
Wengerd’s lab, assist with administrative and / or research-related tasks (e.g., data collection, developing materials for institutional review board review, manuscript editing, etc.
and ensure regulatory compliance with clinical trial activities. This position will require flexible hours Monday-Friday 8 : 00am-7 : 00 pm depending on the needs of our research participants.
This position is located in the College of Medicine.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in occupational therapy from an accredited program
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in occupational therapy from an accredited program
- Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as an occupational therapist in the state of Ohio
- Clinical understanding of neurological conditions (e.g., stroke and spinal cord injury) and assistive technology strongly preferred.
- Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.
- Requires successful completion of a background check; selected candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
