Position Overview : The Phoenix Food Hub (PFH) Nutritionist will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team focused on addressing the food insecurity and insufficiency challenges facing individuals and families living in the Lynn area.
Using a "food as medicine" approach, the PFH Nutritionist will assess and counsel consumers about how food choices, meal preparation, and eating patterns promotes overall health.
In this effort the PFH Nutritionist will offer culturally competent tools, techniques, and supports for access to nutritious foods, meal planning and preparation, and daily food-related routines.
As part of this role, the PFH Nutritionist will also make appropriate referrals to other PFH programs, such as teaching kitchen classes, Farmer's Market and other food distribution programs, home delivered meals, and more.
Additionally, the PFH Nutritionist will serve as a central member of the "Food and Thought" project which helps consumers understand the connection between diet and mood and to use nutrition as a means of alleviating conditions such as depression and anxiety.
Position Responsibilities : Identify and use all of Phoenix's resources to help educate consumers with the proper information needed to improve their nutrition needs.
Capture relevant data and document encounters appropriately in the PFH database system. Provide nutrition workshops as needed and requested.
Participate in relevant trainings around food and mental health and incorporate materials into counseling approaches as appropriate.
Know and appropriately reference PFH and other area nutrition resources.
Qualifications :
- Must be a Registered Dietitian with license
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience working with individuals of all ages and living with various disabilities as a Dietitian
- Must be organized, able to multitask, work within a team in a fast-paced environment and be self-directed
- Community Health experience preferred
- ServSafe Certified or ability to get certified
- The ability to appropriately handle confidential and personal information
- Proficient in the use of computer systems, including but not limited to, Windows based software application including but not limited to Word, Excel, PPT and Outlook
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Bilingual Spanish required
Hours 8-10 hours per week
