This is a FIXED TERM CONTRACT FOR 6 MONTHS as a face-to-face customer service advisor working 9-5 Monday to Friday and every other Saturday morning (9-12pm) in our Lancaster branch.

Where does this role sit?
Our Guy Penn Insurance Brokers Lancaster and Kirkham offices, whilst specialising in the placement of insurance for businesses from individual trades people to large commercial UK entities, are also agents for Yorkshire Building Society.
As a result, we have a vacancy for a Building Society Cashier.
The successful candidate will be expected to work solely on the respective activities emanating from the building society, but will be employed by Guy Penn Insurance, due to the ownership of the agency being with ourselves.
Therefore, by being an employee, the individual will receive all the same benefits that Guy Penn Insurance staff receive, but their responsibilities, day to day activities and training will be aligned to those agreed by YBS.
Guy Penn is part of Ethos Broking, who in turn are part of the Ardonagh Group.
So, what does the role of a Building Society Cashier here involve?
This role will be made for you if you love working in a small team to provide a high quality customer facing service. You will need to meet all customer needs and promote YBS’ products and services.
This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your Line Manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following and more :
- Responsible for opening and closing the branch.
- Effectively process all transactions ensuring no errors are made and that the till balances at the end of each day.
- Ensure that all administration duties are performed accurately and in accordance with the YBS procedures
- Assist customers with enquires, reviews and account opening.
- Communicate and promote products and services as required by the YBS.
- Have a working a practical knowledge of the Society’s risk management framework and understand the risks associated with your day-to-day activities.
- Follow and understand the procedures set out in the teller and process manuals, reporting and escalating controls that are unworkable or unnecessary.
- Ensure prompt escalation of issues, incidents and complaints.
- Deal with branch compliance returns.
- General office duties including answering the phones, post etc.
What experience does our Building Society Cashier need?
It would be beneficial if you have experience gained from within the Banking / Building Society industry particularly in a customer facing role but this is not essential as full training can be given.
Knowledge and understanding of the general running of a bank / building society and the products offered will be preferred.
