The Opportunity
This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location in the General Engineering Services
The Engineering Technician will focus on design support for projects (internal and external), bid packages, and drawing control spanning multiple engineering disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP).
The engineering technician will be responsible for meeting with project teams and outside engineering firms gathering requirements, producing CAD designs, and assisting overall drawing coordination on assigned projects.
The successful engineer technician in this role will have extensive AutoDesk AutoCAD and some AutoDesk Revit Modeling experience, good MS office skills, and ability to understand and coordinate drawing sets.
The candidate will perform assessments in the field determining current conditions and updating, markup and adjusting CAD / BIM drawings to an asbuilt state.
Competency in Mechanical plumbing and piping preferred.
What You’ll Work On
Utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) Revit software and Computer Aided Design (CAD) Autodesk AutoCAD tools daily to develop designs, bid packages, construction, and as-built drawing documentation across MEP disciplines.
Will be involved in receiving, reviewing, and adjusting as-built AutoCAD / Revit design data deliverables to align with CAD standards, and checking this data into the Engineering Content Management System (ECMS).
Partner with Abbott Professional Engineers and Project Managers and project teams conducting small- to large -size assigned projects within an engineering specialty.
Manage multiple, often concurrent assignments and meets deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in engineering or STEM discipline
- Minimum 2+ year degree or equivalent work experience desired.
- Demonstrated competency in AutoDesk AutoCAD and AutoDesk Revit.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or STEM discipline is preferred
- NICET Fire Certification is highly desirable
- Desired 2+ years of operational experience in an engineering environment.
- Technical background in design / drafting in an engineering discipline highly desired.
- AutoDesk AutoCAD or Revit certification highly desired.
